About Us
Affordable, compassionate care for all ages
We use Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to help alleviate symptoms and treat the root cause. Using acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, gua sha and nutrition we help balance a person’s Qi - the vital energy in our bodies.
TCM theory is based on the natural rhythm we see in nature. This healing system has been used for thousands of years to strategically harmonize a person’s mind, body and spirit.
Here at Redfern Acupuncture and Herbs we offer a variety of treatment options for the whole family!

Meet your Acupuncturist
Jessica Grace Redfern MAOM, Lic Ac. is certified by NCCAOM and is a graduate of the New England School of Acupuncture where she focused on Chinese Herbal Medicine and both Chinese and Japanese styles of Acupuncture. She is passionate about bringing Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to her community by making compassionate care readily available and affordable. Her gentle, versatile approach to TCM makes for relaxing, effective treatments. While she enjoys helping all patients improve the quality of their lives, she has a specific interest in treating anxiety/depression, autoimmune disorders, skin issues and digestive symptoms. Integrative medicine experience includes internships at Element Care in Lynn, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and the pediatric pain clinic at Boston Medical Center (BMC). She empowers her patients by incorporating at home techniques like self acupressure which not only enhances the treatments but encourages long term balance and symptom management.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture uses single use, hair-thin filiform needles to activate acupuncture points - influential energy points along meridians. By tapping into your body's natural ability to respond, communicate and heal itself, acupuncture can increase blood flow, reduce inflammation, balance stress response and regulate immune signaling.
What to Expect
After a detailed intake, the acupuncturist will insert the needles making sure you are comfortable at all times. People generally feel a gentle tap upon insertion for most points and a quick prick for more sensitive points. There are MANY ways to effectively stimulate an acupuncture point including non insertive techniques (shonishin, acupressure, magnet therapy) for needle sensitive and pediatric patients.
Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine is a powerful and effective treatment strategy used on its own or in combination with acupuncture. We use high quality Chinese herbs that combine into formulas that can be taken as tinctures, capsules, teas or used topically. Many patients also benefit from nutritional guidance as food is its own form of medicine!
Cupping and Gua Sha
Cupping uses glass cups to create suction to alleviate pain and promote blood flow.
Gua Sha is a scraping technique used to increase circulation and improve immune response.
Cupping and Gua Sha leave therapeutic marks that can take a few days-weeks to disappear. Very relaxing and detoxifying so be sure to drink plenty of water!
